Three Takeaways on Hiring Recent Graduates



I have been hiring recent graduates at three different companies in the finance space (i.e. a boutique global investment bank, a VC-backed fintech startup, and a big 5 Canadian bank) and below are my key takeaways, which I summarized in the SIC framework:


  1. Schools are overrated. Skills are underrated.

  2. Interviews are overrated. Internships are underrated.

  3. Certificates are overrated. Curiosity is underrated.
